October 2022

Our story began at an Explosion camp. Well, sort of… We met in October 2022 at a café in Lausanne to plan a camp together. We had no idea that this camp would change our daily lives so much.

December 2022

We’re getting together for this camp between Christmas and New Year’s. At first, nothing out of the ordinary… but then our conversations about the evenings and the next day’s meetings gradually turn into discussions about our lives and our dreams. Until December 31, when Philippe, under the pretext of having to prepare the camp report and taking advantage of the chaos caused by New Year’s preparations, suggests to Marielle that they go for a coffee (or rather, a hot chocolate). We spend three hours talking about our lives and our interests (well, Marielle talks… a lot, and Philippe asks questions). The camp ends, and we meet up at the post-camp movie night on January 2, where Philippe plucks up the courage to ask Marielle, just before she leaves, if she’d be open to getting to know each other better.

January 2023

Then came our first date in Lausanne, followed by another in Yverdon and yet another in Bern, where Marielle finally mustered the courage to say “I love you” for the first time. And then, on January 20, 2023, during a walk in the hills of Caux, we decided to start dating with the hope of getting married someday if things went well.

January 2023 to November 2025

This marked the start of nearly three years of traveling—first between Geneva, Sainte-Croix, Lausanne, and Villeneuve, and then to other countries we explored or revisited together: a group trip to Israel, another to Greece, a road trip through Norway, weddings in Canada, camps in France, and three weekends in Germany. One of our shared passions: discovering the history, food, and culture of other nations.

November 2025

On November 10, 2025, we’ll go “take in the fall colors” at Lake Tseuzier above Anzère. Philippe, after pretending they were just taking pictures together, steps back and gets down on one knee, and, against the backdrop of a magnificent landscape, Marielle says yes!

September 5, 2026

Ten months later, we wish to turn that “yes” into a marriage vow—our marriage vow. We pledge our love to one another for life, before God and before all people, and we are delighted to celebrate with you the end of one chapter and the beginning of another!
